Kauhale Nature Preserve

Wai Kai is a good steward of the aina (land) and the memories of those who came before. The stories of people and place are honored through three preservation areas in Hoakalei.  The largest preserve, the 22-acre Kauhale, includes traditional house sites, agricultural features and a protected wetland used by the endangered Aeo (Hawaiian Stilt), Alae Keokeo (Hawaiian Coot) and Koloa Maoli (Hawaiian Duck).»
